Gabby Overgaard’s solo homer put the Melcher-Dallas Softball Squad over the top and defeated Mormon Trail 4-3 on Thursday. The Saints grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning when Jenna Mickey drew a walk, scoring a run. The other Saints put three runs on the board to take a 3-2 lead which set the stage for back-to-back homers from Paetyn Anderson and Overgaard. Lotty Nolte pitched the distance striking out five. Over on the baseball diamond, a ten run 6th inning by Mormon Trail was too much for Melcher-Dallas to overcome and fell 13-5. The Saints looked to be in control leading 4-3 after putting up four runs in the 3rd inning. Evan Schrader doubled, scoring two runs. The softball squad will head to Orient-Macksburg for an invitational on Saturday.
