While the #9 in 3A Dutch baseball team ultimately walked off against Norwalk in thrilling fashion late Wednesday, none of that momentum carried to their bats and defense as they fell Thursday on the road north to #1 in Class 2A West Marshall 4-1.

Pella fell behind early and couldn’t string together enough hits, finding just six baserunners total in the effort against the Trojans’ Owen Siegert, who struck out 13 batters in the effort. The Dutch also committed four more defensive errors.

Nathan Carey was 2-for-3 at the plate with the lone Dutch RBI. Pella falls to 12-6 and hosts Newton this evening. The game can be heard on KRLS3 and viewed on Pella Dutch Live at 7:15 p.m.
