The Knoxville Police Department took part in a unique simulator training over the last month.

This police simulator training is a shared training system with different law enforcement agencies in the area. The VirTra V-100 LE system is a one-screen comprehensive decision-making training solution that translates into real world survival skills for police officers. The simulator provides officers with many different scenarios that they may run into on patrol, and helps them make the correct decisions in a wide variety of situations. Each officer in the department spent several hours completing the training. Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller says this helps his officers stay on their toes for what they may encounter in real life situations.

“It does help our officers think about potential dangers, and be more observant when they’re on a call whether it be inside someone’s house, inside a garage, on a traffic stop, or out on the street, whatever that may be.”
