While there aren’t much in the way of “gimmes,” there are a lot of games the Pella summer teams could find themselves in the victory column if they can shake a rough offensive stretch as they cross the midway point of the 2024 summer season.

Pella’s #9 in 3A ranked baseball team (13-6, 8-3 in Little Hawkeye Conference) is trying to remain in contention for the league title and starts the week with an Indianola team they are tied for 2nd in the standings with. With a looming matchup at #3 in 4A DCG on Wednesday, the twin bill on Monday is pivotal to kick start a strong run to improve postseason standings, according to Head Coach Jesse Jablonski.

The Dutch softball team (12-7, 7-4 in LHC) went from scoring 10.6 runs per game during the week of June 3rd to 3.75 last week — an area Head Coach Katie Banowetz says was in part, due to a change in approach, and she’s hopeful the signs from the end of the Newton game will carry over into the new slate this week — especially with several chances to find victory in the coming week.

Coverage of Pella vs. Indianola summer sports will begin with game two at each site, with baseball featured on 92.1 KRLS and softball on 94.3 KNIA — and both on Pella Dutch Live.
