A graduate of both Central College and Pella High School has received the highest honor in the nation for musical theater. Ryan Rumery won a Tony Award for Best Sound Design for the show Stereophonic, which was among several top honors the performance received at the 77th Annual showcase this past weekend. Rumery graduated from Central College in 1999 and has spent most of his adult life working with sound and music in film and on stage across the United States. Rumery was a member the 1995 Class 3A state championship jazz band at Pella High School and won several awards for music and performance at Central, working with Professor Emeritus Gabriel Espinosa.
