Only one game was completed along Panther Drive on Thursday as lightning and more impending weather chased everyone away. The only game that was played to completion was the first game of a varsity baseball double header between the Panthers and Centerville with the Big Reds winning 5-4 in nine innings. Centerville would score two right away in the 1st, and got up 4-0 before Knoxville got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. It stayed that way until the bottom of the 7th, after a 40:00 lightning delay, Lincoln Norris singled home Luke Roozeboom to tie the game at four. No one scored until Centerville pushed across a run in the top of the 9th. Knoxville actually had a runner at 3rd in the 8th but was unable to get him home. After game one, officials decided to not play game two due to more weather on the way. The nightcap will be played on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the softball game was stopped in the 4th inning with Knoxville trailing Centerville 7-2. That game is scheduled to be resumed on July 8th. Both Knoxville Squads will go their separate way on Friday as softball travels to ADM and baseball heads to Winterset.
