The Pleasantville softball team won both games against Madrid in a doubleheader Thursday night as the Trojan baseball team split against the Tigers in a West Central Conference matchup. 

The Trojan softball team won game one 5-2. Taylor Perkins had three hits in the first game and two RBI while Ella Clark and Madilyn Rowson both had two hits. In game two the Trojans defeated the Tigers 4-3 with Ella Clark and Danika Park both having doubles and an RBI. Kally Wysong, Taylor Perkins, Miranda Benge, Faith Nelson, and Kyleigh McConnell all had hits as well in game two. In game two the Trojans were tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the seventh and with two outs and Danika Park hit a game winning double in deep right center to score the winning run. Lainey Kennedy pitched both games for Pleasantville picking up both wins and throwing a total of 175 total pitches over both games. 

After both wins, the Pleasantville softball team improves to 14-9 overall and 11-5 in the conference. The Trojans will be back in action on Monday at Des Moines Christian.  

The Trojan baseball team took game one of their doubleheader 15-4 in five innings. In the first game Braylon Bingham had a first pitch home run to start the game for Pleasantville and had two doubles. Logan Roff, Owen Rule, and Tristan McElligott all had two hits in the game. In game two the Trojans lost 6-2. Pleasantville coach Sheldon Card said his team didn’t put enough pressure on the Tigers and gave up too many outs defensively in the second game. After the split, the Pleasantville baseball team is now 15-8 overall on the season and will next compete on Monday at Des Moines Christian.
