Hospice of Pella is partnering with EveryStep’s Amanda the Panda program and the Pella Public Library to offer grief support for children and teens in June and July. All events will be held in Room 206 at the Pella Community Center (712 Union St, Pella).
The first session will be the Supporting Grieving Children and Teens Presentation on Tuesday from 4:30-5:30 pm. The presentation gives caregivers the opportunity to learn how to care for the grieving youth in their lives, by walking through age-appropriate responses to grief, how to support a child or teen during the grieving process, grief resources you can turn to, and more. Also on Tuesday from 6-7:30 pm, there will be a remembrance event where individuals and families can come together and memorialize their loved ones, connect with others, and participate in fun activities for children and adults. Children are encouraged and welcome to attend the event with a caregiver.
There will also be Braving Grief Support Groups for youth and teens held on Mondays June 24th and July 1st, 8th, and 15th. The support group for youth will meet on those dates from 10:15-11 am, while the group for teens will meet on those dates from 11:15 am-noon. These free weekly support groups are for youth and teens who have experienced the death of a loved one.
