This summer, the Pella Public Library is offering adults two ways to celebrate their summer reading.

In addition to the regular Summer Reading Program, where adults earn one entry into a drawing for Pella Bucks for each book read in June and July, the library is offering a Book Box Journal Take and Make Kit. For the regular Summer Reading Program, readers enter each book in the Beanstack app or use a paper entry form located at the front desk.

The Book Box journal taps into your creative side by having you first make your own paper box, then use card catalog cards to record your reading. Each time you read a book this summer, you’ll create a journal entry page to put in your box. To get started, there will be a workday for the Book Box Journal on Monday, July 1st at 1 pm. Kits and additional cards/pages, markers, crayons, pencils, and more will be available for use. In August, the library will display these journals at the library. Those submitting their journals for display by August 10th with at least 10 cards written on or decorated with books you’ve read, will be in a drawing to win Pella Bucks.

This program is free and recommended for adults and teens. For more information, contact the library at 641-628-4268.
