pleasantville-3

The Pleasantville softball team’s offense exploded in a win over Des Moines Christian on the road Monday night while the baseball team came up short in a West Central Conference matchup.

The Trojan softball team defeated the Lions 19-9 after another win on the mound from freshman starting pitcher Lainey Kennedy. Offensively the Trojans bats came alive as Ella Clark, Kally Wysong, Taylor Perkins, Emily Roe, and Kyleigh McConnell all had two hit nights for Pleasantville. Perkins and McConnell were especially clutch with runners on the bases as they each recorded four RBI in the contest. The Trojan softball team ended up with 14 hits on the night to improve to 15-9 overall and 12-5 in league play.

The Trojan baseball team fell to the Lions 3-2. With the game tied 1-1 going into the bottom of the fourth, Des Moines Christian was able to tack on two runs to jump out to a 3-1 lead. A run scored in the seventh by Pleasantville wasn’t enough to tie the game up in the end. Trojan Starting pitcher Caylor Jones took the loss after pitching six innings only giving up five hits and one earned run. Senior Caleb Cook had the best night offensively for Pleasantville going 2-3 at the plate. After the loss, the Trojan baseball team falls to 15-9 overall on the season and 10-7 in the conference.

The Pleasantville baseball and softball teams will both host Ogden tonight for varsity doubleheaders with softball starting at 5:30 pm and baseball starting at 5:00.
