The Marion County Board of Supervisors honored former Marion County IT Director Andrew Meyers with the reading of a proclamation and the approval of a memorial picnic table at Tuesday’s meeting.
Meyers, who died in a motorcycle accident in May, was honored at the meeting with his family in attendance while supervisor member Kisha Jahner read the proclamation, which highlighted the person Andrew was and how instrumental he was to the county’s IT department. The board also approved the placement of a memorial picnic table on the courthouse lawn, so the citizens of Marion County can always remember Meyers. Jahner tells KNIA/KRLS News that Meyers was well respected throughout the county.
“We just thought that we needed to honor and recognize him for his dedication. He was a beloved colleague, employee, and friend. He meant a lot to all of us.”
The board of supervisors also held a public hearing and approved resolutions for budget amendments, and received and filed the FY23 Marion County audit. The board also approved four different road department resolutions, a courthouse closure for a power distribution upgrade August 14-16, and an engagement agreement for counsel regarding the property where the sinkhole is located south of Knoxville. The board heard a presentation from Knoxville Economic Development Director Glenn Lyons regarding the Veterans District concept plan, and approved the courthouse to be closed all day on July 24th for RAGBRAI’s overnight stop in Knoxville.
The meeting concluded with discussion and approval of an extension agreement between the City of Pella, Pella Community School District and Marion County regarding EPCON Residential Urban Renewal Area.
