The Pella Christian softball team was in position for their second win of the season at North Mahaska Tuesday night, but the weather had other ideas, as the game was called off due to lightning in between the third and fourth innings and won’t be made up.
The Eagles got the scoring started with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, only for the Warhawks to answer with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame and tie the game at 2-2. Pella Christian took control of the game in the top of the second, erupting for six runs with two outs to take an 8-2 lead. The Eagles held that lead until North Mahaska plated two runs in the bottom of the third to pull within 8-4, but a lightning following the inning forced the game to be called, and the game will not be made up. Rachel Kacmarynski was 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored, while Brynn Roozeboom and Faith Kacmarynski batted in all three RBIs the Eagles recorded prior to the game being called. Making her return to the diamond for the first time since June 3rd, Laurel Roozeboom pitched all three innings that were played and allowed four runs on four hits and two walks.
