Following a record breaking festival in terms of revenue in 2023, the 2024 Tulip Time celebration faced a few more hurdles. The Tulip Time Steering Committee hosted their annual recap of the 89th edition of the celebration Thursday at Central College. The volunteer and city leaders who come together to support the group who organize the festival reported back several details about various areas, including an initial look at revenue. Pella Historical Museums Director Jessi Galligan says increasing costs and the rainout of Thursday’s activities were among the factors that kept margins much tighter for the non-profit organization, and while they didn’t end up in the hole, the next several months will be spent figuring out how to generate revenue to keep the festival healthy for future years.
