In the digital age, some may call it a falling art form, but for the Pella Community School District, the direction of administration seems to be reinforcement as it relates to teaching handwriting. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says the Pella School Board approved a nearly $30,000 curriculum plan that will reinforce the program for elementary students. Ebeling says their findings and research found that while the use of handwriting and cursive is certainly down with the advent of technology, there are still important benefits for kids to have the skill, especially as it relates to note taking and brain development. The handwriting plan will be implemented this fall and expand into 2nd grade. Hear more about the latest in the Pella Community School District on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
