The Norwalk softball team finished with a 1-1 record at Friday’s Dallas Center-Grimes Invitational. The Class 4A third-ranked Warriors lost to 5A No. 5 Johnston 2-1 in their first game, then defeated 5A No. 4 Ankeny Centennial 4-1. Norwalk was facing the Dragons and Jaguars for the second time this season, having shut out both squads 4-0 and 1-0 in May.

Carly Brewer pitched a complete game two-hitter in defeat vs. Johnston on Friday while Jaylynn Brandt led the offense with a pair of hits.

In the win over Centennial, Olivia Dougherty struck out 10 batters in 5 ⅔ innings before Brewer recorded the final four outs. Nyah Hulbert and Bailey Birmingham had two hits each.

The Warriors are now 26-5 overall with only five regular-season games remaining. They will host 5A 12th-ranked Urbandale for a varsity doubleheader on Tuesday, July 2, at 5:00 p.m.
