After the event was postponed due to rain on Friday, the City of Leighton will hold their Independence Day festivities tonight.
The decision to postpone the event by a day was made in coordination with Mahaska County Emergency Management Agency Coordinator Josh Stevens. Activities will still begin at 5 pm today, with food, games, a parade, adult softball, and more being held throughout the town and fireworks are scheduled to start at 10 pm.
The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio begins its journey across 4th of July celebrations in area communities as well. Additionally, patriotic music will air on 92.1 KRLS from 9 to 11 pm Saturday night.
