Today marks the official Independence Day celebration in the Pella community.
Chair of the Pella Independence Day Committee Paul Kingma says there are several returning favorites scheduled throughout the day. This includes swimming at the Pella Aquatic Center, city tours by Pella Historical Museums and Pella Preservation Trust, food stands near central park, arts and crafts and inflatables downtown, and fishing at Caldwell Park. The annual parade starts at Franklin Street and travels around the square down to Main Street south at 6 p.m., the City Band performs on the Tulip Toren at 8 p.m., and fireworks will fire from Central College at 10 p.m.
The Pella Farmers Market will be held as normal from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be no PACE Alliance-sponsored Thursdays in Pella activities this week for Independence Day.
