The Central Iowa Regional Transportation Alliance will hold a series of public information meetings regarding the regional Comprehensive Safety Action Plan in local communities next week.

The plan is being developed as part of the Safe Streets for All program, which aims to prevent deaths and serious injuries for all users on the nation’s roadways. The meetings will be held in an open house format with no formal presentation. The first meeting will be held in Indianola on Tuesday, taking place at the Indianola Community Wellness Center from 4-6 pm. On Wednesday, the meeting will take place in Prairie City at the Prairie City Community Park from 12-2 pm. The Knoxville Public Library will host the meeting on Thursday, July 11th from 11:30 am-1:30 pm, before the Pella Public Library hosts the meeting later that day from 3:30-5:30 pm.

The goal of the regional Safety Action Plan is to enhance roadway safety. The Plan will identify solutions and strategies for all people using the road, including drivers, passengers, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, and people with disabilities. The plan is being developed for the incorporated cities within Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Story and Warren Counties.
