The Indianola City Council approved a pair of alley vacations at their meeting last week, which included part of the land swap deal with Warren County regarding the Indianola Public Library grounds. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the project continues to go through the early stages.
“The alley is used by the library where the city and county are exchanging the properties, and part of that is the alley that supports the library and we wanted to make sure to transition that into the county’s hands.”
The land swap will have the City of Indianola gaining the West Annex property on the downtown Indianola square to return to commercial use, the Masonic Temple, and five acres on the 6th Street Sub-Area where the former County Shop site was located. Warren County will receive the current Indianola Public Library building to use as office space.
