The Norwalk Easter Public Library will host a book signing with Des Moines TV Sportscaster and recently published author Scott Reister next Saturday from 1-2pm.

Reister’s debut novel Baseball Spy, which was released on April 23rd, tells the fictional story of little leaguer Zane Mitchell having to find out which of his teammates is actually a spy in order to save his family and the country. Reister says that the premise of the book came from an idea he had as a little league baseball player.

“This has been such a surreal experience, because I had this idea thirty years ago when I was a kid growing up in Dallas, Texas, playing little league. And I don’t know if little leaguers ever get bored if you’re up to bat, in like the third inning and nobody’s on base, but I did this mental trick where I would imagine that getting this hit or hitting the ball was the most important thing in the world, that everybody around me would blow up and die if I didn’t get the hit. So, I started imagining this was like an action movie, that the fate of the world depended on me hitting this and everybody was counting on me, and it always stuck with me as an idea that would be really neat for a book or a movie and 30 years later, here we are.”

Baseball Spy is available at PageTurners Book Store in Indianola, as well as online on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
