It’s been nearly a year since the Pella Community Food Shelf moved to its location at 1111 West 16th Street, and renovations to the facility are nearing a completion point. Executive Director Melissa Zula says work has continued since opening the space, and the focus is on enhancing the kitchen over the several weeks. Zula says they intend to use the kitchen not only to enhance the offerings of food available to those in need, but to also provide education to the people they serve. The Pella Community Food Shelf is open on Tuesdays from 8 to 9 a.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and once renovation is completed, there will be extended hours for other programs. The non-profit organization is still accepting donations for the renovation project through The HopeFULL Movement. Read more here.
