The Knoxville School Board special election will take place today.
This election is to fill a school board vacancy after the resignation of Susan Swartzendruber in May. The two candidates for the election are Tony Rider and Dylan Mick. Regular voting will take place today at designated polling locations. Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia says his office was at 233 requested absentee ballots as of Friday afternoon. Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch encourages the community to get out and vote.
“No matter who you vote for, just getting out and voting is the most important part. I said at the council meeting earlier that it’s sometimes disheartening when you see those results and you get a voter turnout of eight, nine, or ten percent. It would just be so nice to see more engagement and more of a voice of the entire community.”
