The Indianola baseball team had their season come to a close Monday night in the substate semifinal round against Sioux City North 9-2 as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Indians had a pitchers duel to start, as both Indians starter Andrew DeWall and Stars hurler Kal Chamberlain breezed through the first three innings with only one hit. The Stars struck first in the fourth inning with a pair of two-RBI doubles to lead 1-0, but then disaster struck in the fifth. Sioux City North plated seven runs on five hits and three walks with the Indians just unable to get out of the inning despite multiple pitching changes and trailed 8-0. Indianola got a run back on a Ryker Burgin groundout in the fifth and a sacrifice fly in the seventh, but weren’t able to get back into the game.

Head coach Nathan Carlin said he only had this senior class for 7 months after being hired, which was not enough time to spend with a group of hard workers and fun kids to be around.

The Indians season comes to a close with a record of 26-13, and graduate a senior class of 10.
