The Indianola School Board approved the structure of implementing a second School Resource Officer at their meeting Monday, in partnership with the City of Indianola and Indianola Police Department.
New Superintendent Tara Paul tells KNIA News the new officer would supplement the work with current SRO Jay Hackett with an office at Indianola Middle School.
“That will be the home for the additional officer, and then just like we do with Officer Hackett he will go off into other buildings as needed making rounds. We never want our School Resource Officers to be predictable, that is one of the reasons that we have them. This additional one will be housed at the middle school, but will be out and about like Officer Hackett is.”
Paul also said she is happy to finally be working in the district and has received a warm welcome in her first two weeks.
