The Pleasantville baseball team will face Chariton in the opening round of the Class 2A state baseball tournament in Fort Dodge on Tuesday.

The Chargers last made the state tournament in 2013 and are 24-4 this season. Chariton is riding a 19 game win streak coming into their contest against Pleasantville with their last loss coming on June 3rd against Knoxville. As a team, the Chargers average eight runs a game on offense and have a team batting average of .330. On defense, Chariton gives up an average of 3.2 runs per game and carries an opponent batting average of .187. 

Mason Smith has been the top offensive player for the Chargers this year as he holds a .426 batting average with 43 hits and 24 stolen bases. Chariton has three pitchers this season who each have pitched over 30 innings and there is only one combined loss between them. The Chargers also have a team fielding percentage of .957.

Tuesday’s state tournament game in Carroll will start at 1:30 pm and the game will be live on 95.3 KNIA.
