The Pella City Council took several steps to add two new housing developments at their meeting this week. Between the new EPCON and Prairie Ridge West plans, just over 170 new units are in the process of planning. This comes as the Pella City Council was informed that a recent housing analysis conducted earlier this year by Marion County Development identified a need of nearly 1,300 new housing units needed in the next ten years, split between uses of single family structures, options for residents 55 and older, and rentals. For EPCON, an urban renewal plan, an ordinance approving tax increment financing, and a resolution for a TIF extension with Marion County were all approved, and for Prairie Ridge, a planned unit development was given a first reading and moved ahead.
