Last week applications were due for the Knoxville City Manager position that will open up in April after Dick Schrad retires and there has been an overwhelming amount of interest in the vacancy. According to Schrad Brimeyer-Fursman, the search firm contracted through the city to aid in the hiring process, received in excess of 80 resumes from potential candidates. The search firm is now filtering through the applications and will be conducting screening interviews with the best prospects. They will then present a list of the top 10-12 candidates to the Knoxville City Council at a special meeting on January 5th at which time the council will review the applications and select the top candidates they wish to interview for the position.

Those interviews will be scheduled on January 28th and 29th and the tentative start date for the new City Manager is April 4th.
