A round of warmer air will settle into the region as July moves into August in south central Iowa. The National Weather Service predicts temperatures to jump back into the low-to-mid 90s for much of next week, with heat index values approaching, and at times, topping 100, especially in the afternoon and evening hours. While it may not be oppressively hot every day, consistently above average temperatures are expected to continue well into early August. Those with outdoor plans should use caution by staying hydrated and taking breaks in air conditioning.
