The first of six statues was dedicated Saturday in front of the Warren County Administration Building for the Wonder on Buxton Project, an effort to connect the Indianola downtown square to Simpson College by highlighting the best part of Indianola, Warren County, our collective history, and some of the biggest institutions in the area. Heidi Levine with Indianola Hometown Pride tells KNIA News the statues will be put on Buxton Street, and with that will be a storytelling experience.
“We are developing a website that will have stories that accompany each of the six statues. The stories are bringing to life or fleshing out the themes the statues are demonstrating. The first statue is the Founding Frame, which focuses on the founding of Warren County and the town of Indianola. The statue itself has both of those founding dates on it, and the story talks about settling on Indianola as a place that we would be developing community and has become our county seat.”
