The city of Pleasantville will hold a retirement open house for retiring Police Chief and City Manager Joe Mrstik on Friday.

Residents are encouraged to join the city to honor Mrstik’s 14 years serving the community and refreshments will be available. The open house will take place from 3-4 pm in the Pleasantville City Council Chambers at City Hall, and Mrstik’s last radio call as Police Chief will take place at 4. Joe came to Pleasantville after serving in a larger police department in eastern Iowa, and said that he’s been grateful for Pleasantville’s support over his time serving the community.

“The citizens kind of embraced me and made me a better leader, and made me a better person. I really, really appreciated the town, and it’s been a good, good run. And we’ve had great support throughout my 14 years with a community and it’s been an honor to serve them.”
