Helping Hands Food Pantry is seeking community donations for its annual School Supplies Sharing event.

Anyone can drop off donations of pencils, crayons, markers, paper, notebooks, backpacks, gym shoes, clothing, other new supplies, and cash donations to Helping Hands at 110 W. Main St. in Knoxville. Helping Hands is open from 9am to 3pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Participants can ask for Cathy Miller when dropping off a donation. Helping Hands Board Member Pat Finan encourages the community to donate.

“People are struggling to pay their rent, buy groceries, buy their prescription medicine, gas and all those things. This is one less thing for them to worry about. We really appreciate the help. Whether it’s just a box of crayons or a backpack or clothes, anything you can do will help.”

Donations will be accepted through Friday, August 16th. The School Supplies Sharing event will be held Saturday, August 17th  from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and is open to families whose children attend local public school districts.
