The #5 Pella girls soccer team had it come down to penalty kicks, but the found their 15th-ever state tournament trip in a 3-2 win over #10 ADM on May 23rd to land in the 8th spot on the countdown of top moments from the land of the Dutch.
Pella never trailed, but had to fight off multiple chances for the Tigers, as Abby Warner scored twice in regulation, only for ADM to find scores relatively shortly after. Both teams traded strong shots on goal in both overtimes, which got them to the final showdown. Pella scored on every PK opportunity and earned a critical save from Maddy Holland in between to earn the victory and back-to-back trips to the state meet.
The Dutch would go on to defeat Liberty 4-2 in the state quarterfinals before falling to eventual runners-up North Polk to earn a top four finish at the state tournament.
