Knoxville along with all other school districts in the state of Iowa are wrapping up annual “Family Week”.

This is the third annual year of the non-contact period for districts in the state, which started on Sunday, July 28th and lasts until Sunday, August 4th. During this time there are no activities, practices, workouts, lessons, or meetings, and coaches can’t be in contact with athletes. Knoxville Superintendent Cassi Pearson says that the “Family Week”  is a good break for students involved in activities and for their parents.

“It really was valuable and important when the state made that decision to make a family week between that summer season and starting a new school year. It truly is a time for an entire week where students aren’t allowed to be in the school buildings or have anything to do with any activities. Our coaches, sponsors, and teachers aren’t to be in contact with the students for programming and they get a break.”

Activities can resume on Monday morning.
