The Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge is closed until further notice due to storm damage that occurred at their facilities.
The safety of visitors and staff is a top priority for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which resulted in the closure of all public facilities, including the Prairie Learning Center. All planned educational programming is canceled through the month of September because of the extensive damage to the visitor center. Staff will continue to access and mitigate storm damage that was caused by hail and rain earlier this week. Public trails and the wildlife drive remain open from sunrise to sunset per usual operating hours.
