After nearly a decade of partnering with award-winning radio coverage of Pella’s rich, championship tradition of athletics on video streams, the school and radio station have strengthened their partnership heading into the 2024-25 academic year.

Pella Community Schools and 92.1 KRLS have entered a formal agreement for the station to continue providing play-by-play of football, basketball, and summer sports on the Pella Dutch Live video stream, in exchange for additional marketing opportunities on the flagship station’s airwaves.

Activities Director Matt Fouch expressed excitement in tightening the bond between the two entities and to enhance the abilities to tell the stories of the students and staff of the Pella School District.

“I don’t know a single stakeholder in the Pella Community School District that isn’t excited about this,” Fouch said. “We’ve talked about it for a long time, we’ve mentioned it a lot, and this partnership continues to grow — just in the way you guys promote our students in every activity we do, I know we’re extremely grateful for it.”

Pella Dutch activities will also remain a focal point of daily news and sports coverage on 92.1 KRLS, kniakrls.com, and the station’s social media channels with all aspects of the district, including academics and fine arts programs.

This will continue in addition to weekly interviews with coaches and athletes and the extensive over-the-air play-by-play of varsity sports. The station will also partner with Pella Dutch Live for extra commentary of volleyball this fall, exclusive to the YouTube streams and channel on Pella TV.
