With school set to resume soon, Warren County Health Services wants to remind parents about having a plan in place for kids in the case they run into an adult they don’t know trying to bring them somewhere. Executive Director Dr. Joelle Stolte tells KNIA News parents shouldn’t be afraid to have discussions with their young kids about school safety.
“Teach your children about situational awareness and stranger-danger. Make sure kids are aware that sometimes the world is not always safe, but it can be if they are prepared. Warn children about accepting rides or changing plans without parental permission. Establish a code word with your children, and any trusted relatives or friends in case they need to be picked up in an emergency.”
