new-jasper-county-building

Four organizations across Jasper County were just awarded a total of $284,000to eliminate obstacles that prevent county residents from getting substance abuse treatment. The funding was unanimously approved by the Jasper County Board of Supervisors, at the recommendation of the Jasper County Opioid Settlement Committee. This is the 3rd allocation of money from lawsuits Jasper and other counties filed against various drug companies for over prescribing opioids. Jasper County Public Health Department Director Becky Pryor says the next round of funding is months away.

“Right now we are going to reevaluate in February of 2025. But it will be anywhere from six months to one year from now.

Pryor says seven funding applications were received and four were funded. Money is going to Sheepgate, a division of Adult and Teen Challenge of the Midlands, Clearview Recovery Incorporated in Prairie City, Capstone Behavioral Healthcare in Newton, and the Colfax-Mingo Community School District.
