Construction of a new clubhouse at Newton’s Westwood Golf Course could take another step forward at tonight’s Newton City Council meeting. The Council is being asked to accept a low $378,000 bid from Ball Team LLC of Urbandale. The Engineer’s cost estimate on the 60’ x  100’ post-frame clubhouse was just over $283,500, The City received 3 other bids that ranged up to $429,000. Newton residents approved this project as part of a September 13, 2022 bond referendum that was overwhelmingly approved. The Newton City Council will also hear the annual Library Report from Library Director Nicole Terry., and end the meeting in closed session to discuss present or possible litigation. Tonight’s Newton City Council Meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
