Newton Police have filed a felony charge against the man they believe stole over $2,000 from a downtown Newton restaurant’s safe. Twenty-three year old Quinten E. Coker is charged with 2nd Degree Theft, a Class D felony. Newton Police say he had access to the safe at April’s Diner during closing hours. The court filed criminal complaint states Coker took $2,010 from the safe between 2:15 p.m. on Sunday August 11th, and 12:08 p.m. the following day, Monday, August 12th. The Collins man is currently free on his own recognizance pending his initial court appearance.
