The American Rivers Conference men’s soccer preseason coaches’ poll was released Tuesday and Simpson was selected to finish tied for fifth and Central was selected to finish seventh.
Entering his 14th season as the head coach of the Storm, Rick Isaacson has compiled a 137-87-22 record during his tenure. Last season, Simpson finished 7-10-1 overall and 4-4 in league action, to finish fifth. The Storm continue to eye a return to the national stage with their lone NCAA Tournament appearance coming in 2000. Simpson returns seven starters to the lineup for the 2024 campaign, including all-conference performers Ronaldo Ordaz-Zambrano, Espoire Nikomezi, and Zach Kline.
The Storm open the season on August 30th at Augustana College in Illinois.
Garry Laidlaw enters year 27 as the head coach of the Dutch, having amassed an overall career record of 229-211-26. Last season, Central finished 7-8-2 overall and 3-5 in conference action, to just miss the conference tournament. The Dutch have made one trip to the NCAA Tournament, which came in 2019. Central returns seven players this fall, including Joe Brown, Cole Manuel, and Alejo Marcon.
The Dutch open the season on August 30th against Macalester College from Minnesota.
