Two local recent high school graduates were awarded $500 scholarships by the Iowa Association of Business and Industry’s Elevate Advanced Manufacturing initiative. Among the recipients of the scholarships were PCM’s Kaden Wahlert for DMACC and Pella’s Ryan Steenhoek for Indian Hills Community College. According to the National Association of Manufacturers, manufacturing companies are in the top third of employers in the state of Iowa, providing 225,000 jobs to Iowans.
