The Pleasantville football team will open their season at home on Friday against Interstate 35.

The Trojans defeated the Roadrunners with ease in their first game last season 31-7 thanks to five touchdowns from running back Caleb Cook who has since graduated. Pleasantville finished last season with a 5-4 overall record after falling to West Branch in the first round of the playoffs, but the Trojans showed many spurts of how dangerous of a team they can be. The Trojans will lose several strong seniors from last season on both sides of the football, but head coach Mack Jorth is excited about the young talent he has coming up. Jorth states that he knows the district this year will most likely run through Sigourney-Keota and Pella Christian, but he feels his team has the pieces to be competitive in every game they play. This is the third year of the new football stadium in Pleasantville and Jorth hopes that it continues to be packed on Friday nights to support his team.

“I can’t even express the environment on a Friday night in this new stadium. It’s just fantastic. Our fans do a great job following and supporting and just the stadium and all the bells and whistles it provides just makes for a super fun environment. If you haven’t checked it out yet you need to because it makes for a super fun environment.”

Friday’s game in Pleasantville will start at 7:00 pm.
