Last season, the Knoxville Football Squad struggled to run the ball. The Panthers averaged just 67 yards on the ground last season. Coach Matt Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports with a smaller line the pass may have to be the first option this season and he is confident with the receivers and Quarterback Brenden Woolsey. Dunkin and the rest of the coaching staff was impressed by the downfield blocking in Friday’s scrimmage.

Dunkin: “I think they did a really nice job. Coach Pep and I was talking after the scrimmage, we were impressed with the blocking. When he took over the offense we put a big emphasis on blocking and if you want the rock, you’re going to have to block, and it was nice to see our receivers blocking for their teammates.”

The Panthers showcased their team for the fans last night at Randy Wilson Track in Meet The Panthers Night in an inter-squad scrimmage. Knoxville opens the season next Friday at home against Boone. Listen to all Knoxville Football broadcasts on the radio home of the Panthers 95.3 KNIA.
