Knoxville Hospital and Clinics is encouraging families and students to take precautions to stay healthy this school year.

According to Dr. Tim McCoy it is important for children to see the primary care doctor annually, to always stay up to date on immunizations, to get in a good sleep routine, eat a healthy diet, and talk to someone if they are experiencing difficulty or anxiety at school. McCoy also says practicing basic good hygiene is always best practice to help prevent the spread of germs.

“Still the best hygiene practice is washing your hands. We learned that during Covid. Washing your hands and trying not to put stuff in your mouth, and wash your hands before you eat, and wash your hands after you go to the bathroom. There can never be enough hand sanitizer. I remember times where your hands get so raw because you wash your hands so much but unless you have a major skin condition you can never wash your hands too much.”
