The Pella Christian football team begins the fall sports season on Eagle Lane tonight, hosting rival Des Moines Christian in the season opener.
The Eagles have had their way in the series over the last six meetings, going 5-1 and outscoring the Lions 319-121 since 2016. In last year’s game, Pella Christian used a dominant opening quarter to pull away for a 49-35 victory. Eagles head coach Rich Kacmarynski says that winning the season opener would be a great momentum boost to start the year and that he’s excited to see how his squad does against a talented Des Moines Christian team.
“Coming out of the gate and getting an early season win is always a great feeling and it’s a great way to kind of kickstart your team down the road towards a great season. So, I know we have our hands full tonight and our work cut out for us, but I feel good about our team and feel good about our prep. And so, it’s time to play and find out what happens. ”
Coverage of Pella Christian football against Des Moines Christian tonight can be heard live on the KRLS2 stream and on the Pella Christian YouTube channel beginning at 6:30 p.m.
