The Newton YMCA continues to work on raising money to possibly expand their facility in two-to-three years. Interim YMCA CEO Andy Karr says the funding could be a combination of local and federal money.
“Representative Marianette Miller-Meeks requested money through the Federal Government’s Appropriations Bill. We are still waiting for passage of that bill to confirm that we have those funds. We also have some donors who have already agreed to give us some money toward that project.”
The proposed expansion would be added onto the front of the current Newton YMCA building. Karr says it would create more space for additional childcare, cardio equipment, an expanded weight room, and indoor soccer and pickleball.
