Construction crews have wrapped up work on the Indianola Downtown Square Project, completing the west alley and parking lot earlier this week, marking the completion of the four-year project.
The reconstruction work began in conjunction with the demolition of the Warren County Courthouse in 2020, but originally started in 2018 after the Iowa Economic Development Authority completed a study on the downtown square which showed much needed improvements to the infrastructure in order for businesses to succeed.
Work over the last two summers included the north and south alleys, the south parking lot, and now the west alley and parking lot. With the completion of the parking lots, there are now over 300 parking stalls on public lots within two minutes of walking to the square.
