In their first action under new head coach Andrea Kacmarynski, the Pella Christian volleyball team went 4-2 at the Skip Anderson Invitational at Bondurant-Farrar on Saturday.

The Eagles opened pool play by falling in two set to Class 5A #6 Indianola 21-12, 21-6, but bounced back to sweep Boone 21-14, 21-4 and Fort Madison 21-10, 21-13. In bracket play, the Eagles advanced to the championship match of the silver bracket with wins over North Polk (21-13, 21-17) and Gilbert (21-23, 21-14, 15-12). In the championship match, Pella Christian squared off with cross-town rival and Class 4A #11 Pella, but fell 21-19, 21-19 to take second place in the bracket. Brynn Runner and Chloe Huisman led the Eagles offense on the day, with Runner recording 48 assists and 14 kills and Huisman posting 35 assists and 24 kills. Addison Bandstra had 20 kills offensively and 10 blocks defensively, while Brynn Roozeboom added 21 kills and six blocks. Defensively, Rachel Kacmarynski added five blocks, while older sister Faith Kacmarynski led the team in aces with seven.

Pella Christian will now turn their attention to Little Hawkeye Conference action, as they get a rematch with Indianola on Eagle Lane Tuesday at 7:15 pm.
