A 56 year old Newton man has been given a suspended 5 year prison term and 3 years of probation for pleading guilty to a Second Offense Sex Offender Registry Violation. David Wayne Bailey’s sentence from  Jasper County District Associate Judge Steven Holwerda also includes a $1,025 Civil Penalty. Court records show Bailey pleaded guilty to the Class D Felony. The criminal complaint filed by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says a Registry Compliance Check on October 15, 2023 revealed Bailey was not living at the Newton Address he listed. The Iowa Sex Offender Registry states Bailey was convicted of Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse in Polk County during September of 1997. He was 30 at the time and the victim in the case was an adult woman.
