Newton’s Volleyball team lost three matches at home last week and look to pick up a win tonight. The 5-4 Cardinals host 7-3 Pella Christian at 7:15 p.m. in Newton High School’s upper gym. Newton lost to Dallas Center-Grimes last Tuesday, September 3r. Then this past Thursday, the Cardinals lost to Grand View Christian and North Polk. Newton Coach Heidi Woollums says this year’s team is young and able, but lacks confidence at times.

“In our games against Grand View Christian and North Polk I think we saw a little bit of that confidence lacking. When things were going really really well we were high and happy. Then as things started to slip away from us the opposite happened. We have to learn to control that and be consistent in those moments, go back to your fundamentals and don’t let things go too awry.”

Pella Christian has won three matches in a row. All three were 2-0 straight set wins at home last Thursday, September 5th over Davis County, Van Buren County, and Pleasantville.
